Privacy Policy

Answered handles sensitive lawsuit and debt-related information. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how service providers may process it, and how to contact us about your information.

What we collect

We may collect account information such as your email address, case information you enter, uploaded lawsuit papers, extracted case details, generated documents, payment status, support messages, and basic analytics events.

Uploaded documents may include names, addresses, court case numbers, debt amounts, creditor names, account references, service dates, and other financial or legal facts contained in your papers.

How we use information

We use your information to create and save your case workspace, estimate deadline paths from facts you confirm, prepare self-help documents, operate checkout and account recovery, provide support, improve reliability, and monitor product quality.

Answered is self-help software. We do not sell your personal information or lawsuit papers, and Answered does not use uploaded summonses, complaints, or generated packets to train public models.

Service providers

We use service providers to host the application, store case data, process payments, send email, monitor errors, and process uploaded papers or scans. These providers process information only so Answered can operate the service.

Stripe handles payment checkout. Supabase hosts authentication, database, and storage infrastructure. Resend sends transactional and reminder email. Sentry, PostHog, Google Ads/Google tag, and AI/document-processing providers may process limited account, delivery, error, analytics, ad measurement, upload, or extraction information so the service works and Answered can measure whether advertising leads to useful product actions. If Answered adds text-message reminders in the future, the SMS provider will be named here before any messages are sent.

AI/document-processing providers may process pages to return extraction results and confidence indicators. They are not reviewing your case as attorneys.

See /security for a plain-language summary of private storage, encrypted transit, provider roles, deletion/export controls, indexing, and support access. See /data-retention for retention windows for drafts, uploads, generated packets, account data, payment metadata, support records, logs, and backups.

Analytics and sensitive flows

We use product analytics and advertising measurement to understand whether users can complete the funnel and whether paid search ads are producing useful product actions. Analytics and ad measurement events should not include raw lawsuit text, full document contents, payment card data, Social Security numbers, or full account numbers.

If you see a privacy issue or believe sensitive data was captured incorrectly, contact us at the support email below so we can investigate.

Your choices and controls

You can delete individual cases from the app; a deleted case is recoverable from Recently Deleted for 30 days, then its data and uploaded files are permanently removed by an automated cleanup process.

You can delete your entire account from your profile. When you do, Answered deletes your account and the case data linked to it, and separately purges the contact information (email address and phone number) associated with your account from our reminder, email-delivery, text-delivery, and support-rescue records. Uploaded court-paper images and signature images tied to your account are removed by an automated storage-cleanup process shortly after deletion.

Two limited exceptions, which are standard: (1) if you unsubscribed from emails, we keep a record of your email address on a suppression list so we do not contact you again — deleting your account does not undo an unsubscribe; and (2) we may retain limited records we are required to keep for fraud prevention, tax, payment, security, or legal reasons (for example, a Stripe payment record), for no longer than needed for those purposes.

You may also contact us at support@ellasid.com to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of the information associated with your account. The Data Retention Policy explains the main timelines.

Your privacy rights (state laws)

Depending on where you reside, state privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA and similar laws in other states) may provide rights to access, delete, correct, or obtain a portable copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing.

Answered does not sell your personal information. To the extent any advertising integrations (such as Google Ads) are considered “sharing” under applicable law, you may exercise opt-out rights by contacting us at support@ellasid.com.

Contact support@ellasid.com to exercise any of these rights. We will verify your identity and respond as required by law without discriminating against you.

Children

Answered is not directed to children and is intended only for adults (18+) responding to their own or an authorized consumer debt matter. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact support@ellasid.com and we will delete it.
