Important limits of Answered self-help legal software
Last updated June 8, 2026
Answered helps people sued for consumer debt organize case information and prepare self-help documents. It is not a law firm, does not provide individualized legal advice, does not represent you, and does not guarantee any result. Read this page before relying on any Answered content, workflow, or document.
Answered is not a law firm
Answered is operated by ellaSiD LLC. Answered is not a law firm, is not a lawyer referral service, and does not provide legal representation.
No attorney-client relationship is created by visiting the website, reading a guide, using the app, uploading court papers, chatting with the product, receiving generated documents, purchasing a packet, emailing support, or using any Answered workflow.
If you need legal advice about your rights, defenses, settlement, bankruptcy, garnishment, exemptions, counterclaims, court appearances, evidence, or what to file, contact a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.
Answered provides legal information and document automation, not legal advice
Answered can provide general legal information, organize facts you enter, identify issues for you to review, and generate self-help document drafts based on information you provide and confirm.
Answered does not choose your legal strategy, decide whether a defense applies, tell you whether to admit or deny a specific allegation, negotiate for you, appear in court, communicate with the plaintiff, or predict what a judge will do.
You are responsible for reviewing every generated document, instruction, date, caption, allegation response, defense, signature block, certificate of service, filing address, and court-specific requirement before filing or serving anything.
Court deadlines and filing rules control
Court deadlines can depend on state law, court track, service method, local rules, holidays, court orders, clerk practices, return dates, appearance dates, and later notices. A deadline estimate from Answered is not a court order.
Your summons, complaint, docket, court notices, court rules, local forms, and official court instructions control your case. If there is a conflict between Answered and your court papers or court instructions, verify the issue with the court or a licensed attorney before relying on any workflow output.
Settlement discussions, payment negotiations, debt disputes, credit reporting disputes, phone calls with collectors, and requests for validation usually do not stop a court deadline unless a court order or applicable rule says otherwise.
Generated documents require user review
Answered documents are drafts for self-represented users. They are generated from user-provided information, uploaded documents, automated extraction, and selected workflows. Automated extraction can miss, misread, or misunderstand information.
Before using any document, compare it against the complaint, summons, exhibits, docket, and court instructions. Correct any wrong name, court, county, case number, plaintiff, defendant, date, amount, service address, defense, admission, denial, or filing instruction.
Do not file a document you do not understand. If a generated document appears wrong, incomplete, too broad, too narrow, or inconsistent with your papers, pause and seek help from the court clerk, a legal aid organization, or a licensed attorney.
Packet QA Review Pilot and attorney-review language
Some pages or products may refer to Packet QA Review Pilot, reviewed templates, reviewed workflows, or internal legal QA. That language means only the stated template, workflow, or document automation scope was reviewed.
Packet QA Review Pilot language does not mean an attorney reviewed your individual facts, became your lawyer, entered an appearance, created an attorney-client relationship, or guaranteed that a document is correct for your specific case.
If an individual attorney review service is ever offered, the checkout page and engagement terms for that service will describe the separate scope. Unless that separate arrangement is expressly stated, assume no attorney has reviewed your individual case.
Unsupported or high-risk cases may not be appropriate for automation
Answered focuses on consumer debt collection lawsuits. It may not be appropriate for bankruptcy, foreclosure, eviction, repossession, tax debt, criminal fines, child support, student loans, secured collateral, business debt, commercial debt, probate, estate matters, military service issues, identity theft, arbitration already in progress, post-judgment collection, active garnishment, or cases with unclear service or unusual procedural posture.
If your case involves a counterclaim, class action issue, arbitration deadline, pending default judgment, wage garnishment, bank levy, exempt funds, settlement agreement, consent judgment, payment plan, or court hearing in the next few days, talk to a licensed attorney or legal aid organization as soon as possible.
No guarantee of outcome
Answered does not guarantee dismissal, settlement, debt reduction, default prevention, successful arbitration, successful counterclaims, credit-report changes, or any particular result.
Examples, case studies, testimonials, founder experience, state guides, and product descriptions are for general information and product transparency. A result in one case does not predict or guarantee a result in another case.
Founder story and case study limits
Answered was built by John DiSalle after he defended Plaza Services LLC v. DiSalle, Eau Claire County Case No. 2025SC000885, pro se. The case was dismissed without prejudice on April 9, 2026.
That founder experience is relevant to why the product exists, but John DiSalle is not an attorney. The case study does not mean users should copy the same strategy, use arbitration, refuse settlement, or expect the same outcome.
Content can become outdated
Answered works to keep legal self-help content updated, but laws, rules, forms, fees, court practices, product coverage, and pricing can change. A page may become outdated before it is revised.
If you believe a page contains an error, stale rule, broken link, or misleading claim, contact support@ellasid.com with the page URL and the source you believe should be reviewed.
